Former South African president Nelson Mandela died Thursday at the age of 95, an impactful loss that was felt across the world. Following the news of Mandela’s passing, several notable names in golf took to Twitter to share their thoughts and express their condolences over the loss of the incredibly influential man:

Following his round at the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge, Tiger Woods also shared his thoughts on the passing of Mandela.

“It’s sad for everyone who had gotten a chance to certainly not only meet him, but also be influenced by him,” said Woods. “I had a chance to meet him with my father back in 1998. He invited us to his home. It was one of the (most) inspiring times that I’ve ever had in my life. It’s a sad day for many people around the world.”
