PHOENIX – Players have before Friday’s start of the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup to declare what their designated charities are this week.
With the entire $1 million purse going to charity, here’s a list of some of the designated charities:
Alzheimer’s Association (Helen Alfredsson), Narcolepsy Network (Nicole Jeray), Meals on Wheels (Jee Young Lee), Scoliosis Research (Stacy Lewis), Animal Haven Pit Bull Rescue (Mollie Fankhauser), Birdies for Breast Cancer/Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Foundation (Cristie Kerr), Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation (Karrie Webb) and Doctors Without Borders (Christina Kim).
Fourteen players have designated various Japan relief organizations as their charities.
LPGA-USGA Girls Golf receives $500,000 from the purse, with designated player charities getting $500,000. The top-10 finishers win for their charities with $200,000 to the winner’s charity.
