PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Just caught up with PGA Tour rules official Mark Russell who said the reason for the new hole location at the 18th hole was precautionary.
Officials checked the location early Friday and harder, faster conditions caused putts from above the hole to keep rolling past the cup.
Instead officials went with a safer option in the back left portion of the green.
