WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. – In his first PGA Tour appearance since another U.S. Open close call, Phil Mickelson will be paired with a couple of fellow lefties during the opening two rounds of The Greenbrier Classic.

Mickelson, who finished in a share of second place three weeks ago at Merion Golf Club, is in a group alongside Bubba Watson and defending champion Ted Potter Jr., teeing off at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday afternoon.

Bill Haas, who won the AT&T National on Sunday, will tee it up with a pair of fellow American players in Webb Simpson and Nick Watney, beginning at 7:50 a.m. on Thursday.

The tournament also features a pair of over-50 players who have been in the news. United States Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson will play with Ben Curtis and Ryan Palmer starting at 1:10 p.m., and recent Senior Players Championship winner Kenny Perry is with Vijay Singh and Michael Bradley at 12:40 p.m.

Also of note after Monday’s announcement that the PGA Tour will adopt the USGA’s Rule 14-1b disallowing anchored strokes on Jan. 1, 2016 is that two such anchorers – Carl Pettersson and Brendan Steele – will be in the same group (with D.A. Points) beginning at 12:50 p.m.
