Play resumes during second round

BETHESDA, Md. – Play has resumed 42 minutes after a storm sent players and spectators scurrying for shelter at the 111th U.S. Open.

The weather warning horn blew at 4:04 p.m. (ET) and a fast-moving deluge softened an already venerable Congressional course. Play was halted with the afternoon wave about halfway through the second round.

Rory McIlroy completed his round more than two hours before the delay and was cruising at 11 under, although Y.E. Yang had cut his lead to six strokes with a front-nine 34.
