JERSEY CITY, N.J. – It’s weird to speak about Adam Scott as a Player of the Year candidate while the Masters champion has only one win and four others have multiple wins, including Tiger Woods with five.

Another one this week, though, and Scott could at least find himself part of the debate.

He’s already gotten himself into contention at The Barclays, thanks to rounds of 69-66 that should have him squarely in the mix entering the weekend.

“I’ve played a lot of good golf and obviously winning at Augusta is huge,” he said, “but I feel like I’d like to win again before the end of the season, and kind of validate all of my good play.”

After his one-eagle, five-birdie performance on Friday, Scott maintained he was pleased with the score.

“I’m pretty happy with today’s effort. It was actually kind of tough out there. When we went out this morning, the wind was up, and the course played a lot tougher than the few holes I played yesterday. Managed to adjust and have a good score out there today.”
