Royal reunion: Tiger brushes past Stevie

Thumbnail

MELBOURNE, Australia –Tiger Woods arrived on the practice tee at just after 1 p.m. and brushed past former caddie Stevie Williams on his way to the U.S. side of the range. It should be a common theme today.

Woods will pair with Steve Stricker for the Day 1 foursome match at the Presidents Cup against Adam Scott and K.J. Choi. It is the first time Woods and Williams have been in the same group since they split earlier this summer. It’s also the first time since the New Zealander made a racial comment three weeks ago that was directed at his former boss.

Woods and Stricker are in the last group of the day and scheduled to tee off at 2:05 p.m. local time.

The course that is waiting for all 24 players is best described as the softer side of Royal Melbourne. There is virtually no wind with temperatures in the 70s.

‘This is Royal Melbourne at its worst,’ said American captain Fred Couples.
