FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Mother Nature 2, U.S. Open 0. For the second time in three days rain has turned Bethpage into a bath and officials pulled the plug at 7:10 p.m. (ET) with leader Ricky Barnes still waiting to tee off to begin his third round.
The third round will resume at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning with the better part of 36 holes remaining.
“In the spirit of the weather, which is changing minute by minute, we are suspending play for the day,” USGA spokesman Rand Jerris said.
And they say Pebble Beach is weather plagued.
