Woods loses voting privileges

For those curious how Tiger Woods has maintained his status on the PGA Tour this year – a surprisingly large number of inquiring minds – “Shag Bag” dug up the answer in the circuit’s bylaws.

There is no minimum number of events a member is required to play in order to keep his membership and compete in the FedEx Cup, and Woods’ 71 career PGA Tour victories qualifies him as a “life member.”

However, because he played just 12 events in 2010, three short of the Tour minimum, he lost voting privileges this year until he plays 15 events in a season. At his current rate, assuming he returns from injury at the U.S. Open and advances to the Tour Championship, he would play 15 events this year.
