When word began to spread that U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy and top-ranked tennis player Caroline Wozniacki were an item, the immediate 2000s-driven reflex to create a portmanteau nickname for the couple led to a variety of names.
Roriacki. McIlwoz. Roriline. Carolroy. The list goes on.
It appears, however, that the couple has settled on their own morphed name.
Wozniacki tweeted a picture of a Titleist wedge McIlroy ordered for his girlfriend with a special inscription: Wozzilroy.
With an official name, hopefully the next step is not to do what a number of younger couples have done in combining their Facebook and/or Twitter accounts.
