“I wouldn’t say that he didn’t see that I was ready, but you do have a feel when the other guy is going to hit. Right as I was in the top of the backswing, I think he must have pulled like a 5-wood or a 3-wood and obviously everybody started screaming. So that didn’t help very much. It’s unfortunate.” – blaming Tiger Woods after blocking a shot deep into the woods during The Players. (Getty Images)

Lexi Thompson moved into the top 10 of the Rolex Women’s World Rankings for the first time with Monday’s release of the newest rankings.

Thompson, 18, moved up four spots to No. 10 with her victory Sunday at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, jumping over Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer to become the second highest ranked American in the world behind Stacy Lewis, who remains No. 3. It was Thompson’s second LPGA victory in six weeks.

Thompson’s move gives the Rolex rankings a real teenage twist at the top, with two teens now among the top 10 in the world. New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, 16, is ranked No. 5. Both Thompson and Ko are scheduled to play in this week’s CME Group Titleholders, the LPGA’s season-ending event.
