DUBLIN, Ohio – Not three hours earlier Tiger Woods had talked to the assembled scribes about his inability to create the club-head speed he did in his youth, but Rory McIlroy’s drive at Muirfield Village’s closing hole during Wednsday’s Skins Game was exactly what the world No. 1 was talking about.
McIlroy hit driver on the final hole some 320 yards down the right side of the fairway, over a collection of bunkers and two towering trees to the middle of the fairway.
“No yardages up here,” McIlroy cracked while his caddie searched for a sprinkler head.
Woods cracked back, warning, “Great, now Jack (Nicklaus) is going to put another bunker down there.”
