North Pulls Out of US Senior Open

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Andy North, a two-time U.S. Open champion, withdrew from next week’s U.S. Senior Open on Friday, citing a pair of injuries.

North, who won the U.S. Open in 1978 and 1985, pulled out of the tournament with knee and back injuries.

North tied for eighth last year at Inverness, but tied for 48th in 2001 at Salem Country Club. He missed the cut at the 2000 event at Saucon Valley Country Club.

He was replaced in the field by Chuck Milne.

The U.S. Senior Open is scheduled for July 29-August 1, 2004. Bruce Lietzke is the defending champion.
