Harris English is off to a solid start in his sophomore campaign on the PGA Tour and at least part of that credit goes to a familiar face.

At English’s best finish in 2013 – a tie for seventh at the Tampa Bay Championship – Jimmy Johnson, Steve Stricker’s longtime caddie, was on the bag as part of a caddie-by-committee plan.

When Stricker announced earlier this season he would limit his schedule to just 11 events (he’s already played four tournaments and will not participate in the FedEx Cup playoffs or the British Open) it opened up Johnson’s schedule to work for English, an up-and-coming player who made it to the second round of the playoffs in his rookie year.

According to English’s manager with Crown Sports, Johnson will work for English – who tied for third in San Antonio after an opening 68 – at the Zurich Classic and Colonial, and share the bag with English’s regular caddie, Joe Etter, for the remainder of the season depending on Stricker’s schedule.
