AUGUSTA, Ga. – Jason Day withdrew from the Masters Friday citing an injury. Day, Masters runner-up in 2011, shot 76 in the first round and was 1 over through seven holes in Round 2 when he could not continue.

During a Tuesday practice session, the Aussie aggravated an injury to his foot and ankle, which he sustained last week while training. He has been receiving treatment all week.

“It’s nothing big and at this stage I still intend to play,” Day told the Australian Associated Press on Tuesday. “There was some discomfort but it would take a lot for me to miss a Masters.”
