ORLANDO, Fla. – Whether or not you like Sergio Garcia, golf is better when he’s relevant.
Garcia was relevant Friday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational when he shot a second-round 67 to jump into the top-10 of the leaderboard. Until now, Garcia made most headlines for playing with Tiger Woods in the first two rounds of the WGC-Cadillac Championship and making a 12 on the third hole in the final round at Doral.
Now, it’s his good play that’s making people take notice, only two weeks away from the Masters, a place where El Nino has had a love-hate relationship.
But as excited as Sergio is with his position after two day at Bay Hill, it’s the consistency of putting four complete rounds together that has given him fits.
“I’ll try to do the same thing tomorrow and hopefully shoot another good round,” Garcia said. “But if I don’t, then the confidence from these days doesn’t work at all.”
