Golf Channel Reporter Steve Sands is in Augusta, Georgia this week for the 76th Masters Tournament. The fog has just lifted in Augusta and patrons have been allowed into the Augusta National and players are now on the golf course. There was some bad weather last night but there was no damage to Augusta National and while the course may be a bit wet it is in excellent condition as it always is.
Tiger Woods has been in the hunt in The Masters each of the last two years despite having a lot of issues with his swing and his life. Now that he arrives at Augusta National having won at Bay Hill two weeks ago, he has so much more confidence than he has had in a long time.
Sands thinks that Rory McIlroy will be fine this year and that the 2011 Masters will not have an impact on how he performs this year. Rory learned a lot of lessons from last year that can be applied both on and off the course. One of the biggest lessons that Rory learned is how to better manage his time in waiting to play late in the day. As the leader, he plays in the final group and Sands thinks that Rory will have a better idea of what to do this year.
