RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Sometimes you have to distract the body to keep the mind fresh.
Basketball does that for Yani Tseng.
After posting a 4-under-par 68 to take the lead Friday at the Kraft Nabisco, Tseng said she was heading out to play some pickup basketball in the afternoon with her manager, Naya Hsu, and some friends.
“I’ve played basketball since I was very young,” Tseng said. “Almost every day I played.”
Tseng, who has a home in Orlando, says she’s a Magic NBA fan, but she also likes watching Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks. Lin’s parents emigrated to the United States from Taiwan. Lin was born in Los Angeles.
“He’s a superstar in Taiwan,” Tseng said. “I was very happy to see him play well in the NBA.”
