Trophy case getting full: Zach Johnson wins in Portugal, fourth Champions title this year

PGA Champions highlights: 2026 Portugal Invitational, Final round
The top moments from the final round of the PGA Tour Champions' Portugal Invitational at The Els Club Vilamoura in Algarve.

A bogey-free 65 in the final round of the inaugural Portugal Invitational was enough for Zach Johnson to lift his fourth trophy of the season on the PGA Tour Champions.

Johnson led by as many as four on Sunday at the Els Club in Vilamoura, Portugal, where he eventually finished at 19 under to defeat Stewart Cink by two shots. Cink also has four wins on the Champions circuit in 2026. Padraig Harrington (15 under) was solo third, two shots back of Cink.

“Have an amazing team back home — I’m humbled, grateful,” Johnson said. “Thank you to Ernie Els — the Els Club is an amazing facility, an amazing golf course. I’m very lucky.”

Johnson had just three squares across his 54 holes at Vilamoura, so it’s easy to see why he spoke fondly of the course and how it played this weekend.

He cruised Sunday with three consecutive birdies at the start of his round before carding a 31 on his front nine. Perhaps most indicative of Johnon’s dominance was a birdie putt at the turn and another to close out his round at the par-4 18th.
