Sam Burns chipped in from the bunker on the 18th hole during the second round of The Open to shoot 62. He tied the men’s major lowest round record and Lucas Herbert who shot 62 earlier.

The 30-year-old Aussie nearly became the first player, in any major championship, to break 62 before bogeying his 36th hole and settling for the fifth 62 in major history.
Herbert marched toward potentially the lowest round in major-championship history Friday at Royal Birkdale, his caddie, Nick Pugh, was shown on TV looking through a rangefinder, though as it turns out, it didn’t have batteries in it.
Cole’s opening 6-over 76 Thursday at Royal Birkdale included a 25-yard drive where his foot slipped. A day later, Cole shot 64 to book a spot in the weekend at this Open Championship.
