Friday quickly became the Scottie Scheffler show, where the world’s top-ranked player went low for a 9-under 61 to tie the course record at TPC Southwind.
The third round promises to be a Scheffler chase, with the FedEx St. Jude Championship veering dangerously toward a runaway on Moving Day. Sungjae Im and Viktor Hovland sit T-2, three shots back of Scheffler at 8 under through 36 holes.
Only time will tell though how the tournament shakes out. One thing is certain: There is plenty to play for as the top 50 in FedExCup points qualify for next week’s BMW Championship.
