Jordan Spieth can get up and down from a trash can.
No, literally, he can – and make that two trash cans.
Spieth birdied the par-4 15th hole Thursday at TPC Deere Run, his sixth hole of his first round at the John Deere Classic, despite driving his ball underneath a pair of trash cans.
“Do I get to do anything about that?” Spieth asked a rules official after lifting the cardboard receptacle, which sat next to a plastic recycling bin, to reveal his ball in the rough.
“No, you have to play it,” the official responded.

Spieth then hit his second shot 185 yards to 3 feet and made birdie, one of three in his first six holes.
