Live coverage of the unique, team match-play between residents of Lake Nona Golf & Country Club and Isleworth Country Club airs on The Golf Channel Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28 from noon ' 5 p.m. ET.
Closed to the public, the only way to watch the Tavistock Cup competition is on The Golf Channel, which also will replay the competition in prime time both evenings.
The 2005 Tavistock Cup, shortened to one day of competition after inclement weather delayed the conclusion of The Players Championship, went 17 singles matches and three holes of sudden-death playoffs before captains Ernie Els and Mark OMeara called the match a draw, voting to split the $1.4 million prize equally among the 18 players, with each club keeping the Cup for six months.
They also agreed to return the competition to Isleworth this year to get a true winner.
The Orlando-area Isleworth and Lake Nona country clubs are two of the most exclusive country clubs in the world, and each counts some of the worlds top professional golfers among their residents. Isleworth, located in the southwest area of the city, also boasts famous neighbors such as NBA great Shaquille ONeal and baseball all-star Ken Griffey Jr., while Lake Nona is fast becoming a popular east-side address for a host of international sports stars.
Els, ranked fifth in the world, will be the playing captain of the 10-member Lake Nona team, while Mark OMeara captains the Isleworth squad.
