ATLANTA – We spotted Tour official Mark Russell wandering down East Lake’s first fairway late Wednesday afternoon and couldn’t resist getting an impromptu update on the state of the circuit’s soggy venue.
“Look at this,” Russell smiled. “Eleven inches of rain in five days and they are mowing the fairways.”
Earlier in the day we walked a few practice holes with Steve Marino who proved Russell’s point by thumping his putter onto the second green, “That thing is dry as a bone.”
Seems rumors of East Lake’s watery demise have been greatly exaggerated.
