Around midday Thursday, Ian Poulter became the latest PGA Tour player to become a new father. Poulter’s wife Katie delivered a baby boy weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce. The couple has not named their fourth child yet, though Poulter tweeted the couple are thinking of names.
(Editor's note: On Friday, Poulter tweeted the baby's name: "My little boy's name is Joshua James Poulter We have an IJP a LJP an a JJP. JJ Poulter Love him he is lovely.")
After a commitment to appear at the PGA Merchandise Show on Friday, Poulter will visit his wife in the hospital.
“Tucked up in bed wired sleeping at home with the kids & Katie is at the hospital with our new boy. Can't wait to go see him tomorrow,” Poulter tweeted.
Poulter becomes the latest English player to welcome a new child. On New Year’s Day, Justin Rose and his wife, Kate, celebrated the birth of their second child, Charlotte. In mid-November, Diane Donald gave birth to Sophia Ann, her second child with world No. 1 Luke Donald.
