TPC Louisiana among most playable in network

Of the 29 TPCs only 10 are open to the public. TPC Louisiana in Avondale, which plays host to the PGA Tour Zurich Classic of New Orleans, is one of them.

In fact, it's one of the most accessible golf courses on the PGA Tour schedule. Designed by Pete Dye (with consultants Steve Elkington and Louisiana native Kelly Gibson), TPC Louisiana  bears a lot of resemblance to the course that started it all – the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

There are lots of bunkers, waste areas and water everywhere, and avoiding those areas off the tee should be priority No. 1.

A few years ago, there was even more water than there is now. Opened in 2004, the course closed shortly thereafter for an entire year because of Hurricane Katrina.  But the course is back, better than ever and open to anyone who wants to tame Dye's 7,600-yard monster.
