Mickelson Pulls Out of TPC Has Third Child

SAN DIEGO -- Phil Mickelson will skip The Players Championship for the first time since 1994 after his wife gave birth to their third child.
Evan Samuel Mickelson was born Sunday evening.
''There were complications with the delivery for the mother and the baby, but both are doing well,'' Mickelson said in a statement.
Mickelson already has two daughters. He threatened to withdraw from the final round of the 1999 U.S. Open at Pinehurst if his wife went into labor. She had their first child the day after Mickelson finished one stroke behind Payne Stewart.
Ernie Els and Thomas Bjorn also have withdrawn from the tournament. Bjorn's wife is expecting twins in the near future. Els injured his wrist hitting a punching bag.
