Ecco, a leading manufacturer in innovative footwear, announced an endorsement extension with former U.S. Open champ Graeme McDowell on Tuesday. While exact terms of the agreement were not disclosed, it was revealed that G-Mac would continue to showcase the company logo on his headwear and compete in Ecco shoes on the PGA and European Tours.

As part of the multi-year deal, the 34-year-old Northern Irishman will also appear in advertisements and several corporate functions.

While McDowell still prefers to sport the traditional golf shoe with spikes in competition, he appears to be slowly coming around to the spikeless hybrid models that Ecco sees as the future of the game.

“For a long time on Tour I’ve been wearing the World Class style which is quite traditional and goes great with a pair of classic-looking trousers,” said McDowell, in a release. “But for casual rounds at Lake Nona or even hanging out at Nona Blue it’s been Biom Hybrid all the way and I may just choose those to go with some new outfits for next season.”

McDowell is currently ranked 15th in the world after a banner year in which he captured the World Match Play Championship, RBC Heritage and French Open titles. He is scheduled to make his season debut Feb. 6-9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
