TROON, Scotland – The French flag flew at half-staff, players at The Open donned black ribbons and Clement Sordet, one of two French players in the field at Royal Troon, honored those killed and injured in Thursday’s terrorist attack in Nice, France.
Sordet, who is from Charbonnieres-les-Bains, France, teed off in the first group on Friday with the words “Pray for Nice” written on his hat.
The attack in Nice occurred Thursday evening when a truck crashed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, killing 84 people and injuring others.
Very sad news from Nice! Every week there's something terrible happening. Thoughts and prayers for the victim's families #PrayForNice
