CROMWELL, Conn. – For a player who hadn’t won in more than three years, coming as close as Aaron Baddeley did Sunday without taking the trophy was a little frustrating.

But for a player who hadn’t finished better than 18th in 14 previous PGA Tour starts this year, a fourth-place result at the Travelers Championship was reason for optimism.

“I just didn’t quite hit some good shots on that back side there,” he said. But I was happy overall with the week. You know, I played very, very good, so just take a lot of confidence.”

Entering the final round trailing by a stroke, Baddeley posted a 1-under 69 that included an untimely bogey on the final hole.

“I haven’t played as well as I would have hoped. But feel like these last few months I’ve been close to playing really good. I think this week I showed where my game’s at and where it’s heading. I feel like I’m really close to having a win and playing really good.”
