Jason Day was undoubtedly the story of the third round of the U.S. Open, and depending on what happens Sunday, he could be become the story of the year.
Battling vertigo, which caused him to collapse toward the end of his second round, Day battled for a 2-under 68, good enough to tie for the lead by day’s end. Let’s just say people noticed.
Everyone from media members to fellow competitors to his wife, Ellie, took to Twitter to congratulate the 27-year old Aussie on an incredibly gutsy performance, and based on the social media reaction, you’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger fan-favorite heading into the final round.
My phone! My heart! My husband! @JDayGolf you. Are. The. Man.
