After a trying few years, J.B. Holmes is back among the top 70 players in the world.
Holmes, who in the past few years has undergone surgeries on his brain, elbow and ankle, won on Sunday for the first time since 2008. His one-shot victory at the Wells Fargo Championship vaulted the former U.S. Ryder Cupper from No. 242 to No. 68 in the world. And Holmes was only ranked that highly (242) after a month of good play – Quail Hollow represented his fourth consecutive top-20 finish on Tour.
Jim Furyk, who finished solo second at Quail Hollow, jumped from No. 22 to No. 14 in the latest rankings. Third-place Martin Flores moved from No. 226 to No. 147.
Felipe Aguilar, whose back-nine 28 led to his first European Tour title in six years, soared nearly 80 spots in the OWGR, up to No. 130.
