Carlos Ortiz could soon become the newest member of the PGA Tour.

Ortiz shares the lead after three rounds of the South Georgia Classic on the Web.com Tour. He already has two wins this year, and with a third title would earn a PGA Tour promotion and move directly to the main circuit.

Ortiz shot an even-par 72 during the third round and leads at 12 under alongside former Cal standout Max Homa. The pair sit one shot ahead of Adam Webb and Rob Oppenheim, who survived a Monday qualifier to earn a spot in the field this week in Valdosta.

Ortiz, 23, currently leads the Web.com Tour money list and won earlier this season at both the Panama Claro Championship and El Bosque Mexico Championship. He tied for ninth last week at the WNB Golf Classic.

The last player to earn a battlefield promotion on the Web.com Tour was Michael Sim, who gained entry to the PGA Tour after three wins during the summer of 2009.
