NORTON, Mass. – Nick Watney is currently third in the FedEx Cup standings and his opening 67 at TPC Boston did little to hurt his chances for the $10 million post-season jackpot that will be decided in three weeks at the Tour Championship.

Still, the two-time winner in 2011 would do little to help his popularity in the Boston area even with a victory on Monday at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

“I don’t think there’s any chance of that around here,” Watney said when asked if he’d become the most famous Watney in Beantown with a “W.”

That honor belongs to Heidi Watney, Nick’s cousin and a popular Red Sox reporter with NESN. “Yesterday in the pro-am I heard her name probably 100 times. I think she’s got (most popular Watney) pretty much sewn up.”
