October 11, 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the 59 that he shot during the 1991 Las Vegas Invitational at Sunrise Golf Club. The night before that round, he knew that a 59 was a possibility as he and others had heard from the caddies that Sunrise Golf Club was a course that could give up such a low score. He noted that after he shot 59, he went to the practice range and was given a free bucket of balls. His next round was a 68 and he felt as though it was 78 coming off of shooting a 59. He still has the shirt he wore when he shot 59 and he figured that it may be worth something years down the road. As he got older, he acknowledged that he had his struggles especially when his game fell apart and was missing cut after cut after cut. In retrospect, those struggles enabled him to spend more time at home with his family and was able to watch his young kids grow up and now that his kids are older, he has a great appreciation for the fact that he knows his children and that he was able to be a part of their lives during their formative years.
