PITTSFORD, N.Y. – South Korea’s Eun-Hee Ji and Australia’s Karrie Webb have a lot in common as they go off in the final pairing as the leaders Sunday at the Wegmans LPGA Championship.
They have Ian Triggs in common.
Triggs, a former Australian PGA Tour pro and Australian women’s national golf coach, has worked with Webb for the last decade. Ji began working with him after she won the U.S. Women’s Open in ’09. Ji took the radical step of overhauling her swing under him after winning that major, and it has taken time to become natural. She hasn’t won an LPGA event since then. She said she could only hit a fade before working with Triggs, but now feels comfortable working the ball both ways.
“I wasn’t comfortable last year and before that, but right now I am more comfortable with my swing,” she said.
