Darren Clarke and fiancée Alison Campbell were married in a small ceremony Wednesday on a beach in the Bahamas, Clarke announced on his website.

The couple owns a home in the town of Abaco, where they shared their vows.

The ceremony was attended by Clarke’s two sons, Tyrone and Conor, their parents, agent Chubby Chandler and Graeme McDowell.

Clarke, 43, was introduced to Campbell by McDowell on a blind date in 2009 and they were engaged to be married days before Christmas last year. Campbell runs a Belfast-based modeling agency and was Miss Northern Ireland in 1982.

After winning the British Open last year at Royal St. George’s, Clarke credited Campbell with helping to turn his life around following the death of his first wife, Heather, in 2006 after a battle with breast cancer.

The newlyweds will remain in the Bahamas for the week before Clarke flies to South Korea to play in the Ballantine’s Championship in two weeks.
