Brooks Koepka, at 84th in FedExCup points, WDs from Rocket Classic

Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the Rocket Classic.

The reason wasn’t immediately known, but Koepka pulled out of the second-to-last event of the regular season on Tuesday afternoon.

Koepka has been dealing with an ulnar-nerve issue that has affected the grip and feeling in his left hand. It forced him out of the final round of the RBC Canadian Open. He followed with missed cuts at the U.S. Open and Genesis Scottish Open before his T-28 at The Open.

He was replaced in the field by Ben Silverman, and because Koepka’s withdrawal came after noon local time on Monday, the two alternates who gained entry into the field to accommodate Koepka, Lanto Griffin and Justin Lower, were able to remain in the field.

Koepka is currently No. 84 in FedExCup points. Only the top 70 after next week’s Wyndham Championship qualify for the playoffs.

The Detroit Golf Club is getting ready to host its final Rocket Classic this week. Here’s when the tournament’s last first round is set to tee off and where to watch Thursday.
