A back injury has cut Jason Day’s time in the Twin Cities short.

The 13-time Tour winner withdrew from the 3M Open field Wednesday. He finished 73-71 over the first two rounds at Royal Birkdale before missing the cut at last week’s Open Championship.

Replacing him is Charley Hoffman who is set to tee off at TPC Twin Cities with Tom Kim and Casey Jarvis at 1:55 p.m. ET on Thursday. Golf Channel has live Round 1 coverage beginning at 4 p.m.

The first round of the 3M Open is underway at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.

Day previously withdrew from the U.S. Open at Shinnecock. At the year’s previous two major stops, Day finished a respectable T-12 at Augusta and T-65 at the 2026 PGA Championship.

He started the year with a T-2 at the American Express, one of just two T-10 finishes on the season.

As for his replacement, the 49-year-old Hoffman has missed a slew of cuts this season including at his last four tournaments dating back to the Charles Schwab Challenge.
