George McNeill, Miguel Angel Jiménez make move up U.S. Senior Open leaderboard

Miguel Ángel Jiménez lights up cigar at U.S. Senior Open
Miguel Ángel Jiménez took a break unlike you'll see during most major golf tournaments, lighting up a cigar while playing the first hole of the 2026 U.S. Senior Open at Scioto.

George McNeill gained five strokes on the field over his final 14 holes on Friday’s second round at Scioto.

McNeill is a bit of a surprising 36-hole leader at the U.S. Senior Open, where he sits two shots ahead of defending champion Padraig Harrington.

Stewart Cink and Charlie Wi, who carried the co-lead into Friday, each carded 70s and sit T-3 behind McNeill and Harrington.

Miguel Angel Jimenez is also T-3 after putting together a 2-under 68. Jimenez was bogey-free on his back nine.

Harrington defeated Cink in last year’s U.S. Senior Open in Colorado. Cink has won the first two majors of 2026, the Senior PGA Championship in April and the Regions Tradition in May.

Rounding out the rest of the top 10 at 2 under are Chris Devlin, Henrik Stenson, Tommy Gainey and Alex Cejka. Six players are T-10 sit at 1 under heading into the weekend.

Scioto Country Club held defending champion Padraig Harrington and the rest of the 2026 U.S. Senior Open field in check on Thursday. 2025 runner-up Stewart Cink shares the lead entering Round 2. Here’s how to watch and stream the tournament this weekend.

Third round coverage begins on Peacock at noon on Saturday before NBC takes over with coverage from 2 to 5 p.m.
