Garcia's ace nets annual stay at five-star hotel

ABU DHABI – Sergio Garcia’s 7-iron on the par-3 12th Thursday climbed into the clear desert air, bounced twice and ducked into the hole for the week’s first hole-in-one at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

Garcia, who bogeyed his next hole, briefly celebrated his 193-yard ace but he likely didn’t know exactly what his reward would be.

A car? A camel? A lifetime supply of full tanks, considering the area’s oil-rich ways? Nope, El Nino won an annual three-night stay for life at the $1,000-per-night, five-star Palace Hotel.

Garcia has had nine career holes-in-one, but this was his first on the European Tour.
