KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Ben Crane has withdrawn from the PGA Championship with an ailing back and has been replaced in the field by Chris Stroud.

Crane, who withdrew from last week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational midway through Round 3, had been resting at home in Portland, Ore., when he made the decision.

The next alternate is Jerry Kelly.
