KAPALUA, Hawaii – After three days, two false starts and one hellacious streak of windy conditions, the 2013 PGA Tour season is finally under way.

In what is believed to be the first-ever Monday start, players teed off at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions beginning at 7:10 a.m. local time (12:10 p.m. ET) in twosomes off two tees. Yes, the weather is still fraught with wind, but they are not as severe as the past three days, which caused myriad cancellations and delays.

The forecast calls for sustained winds of 20-30 miles per hour, with peak gusts of up to 35-40 mph throughout the day, which the official weather service of the tournament calls “a slight improvement from Sunday.”

Currently, the plan is for players to play 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 on Tuesday, which would keep the event an official tournament. Tuesday’s forecast calls for a slight decrease in winds, with gusts near 30 mph.
