The National Weather Service has issued a high wind advisory for Hilton Head Island from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. That, of course, is when the leaders will play the final round of the RBC Heritage; the final group of Charley Hoffman and Webb Simpson is scheduled to tee off at 1:55 p.m. ET.
“This golf course is tricky in the best of times,” Graeme McDowell told reporters on Saturday. “But put a stiff breeze across it, and it will really test us.”
Just how windy will it get? The early forecast is for a steady 20-30 mph wind, with gusts up to 40-45 mph. High winds forced a Monday finish here in 2007, with Boo Weekley prevailing for the title.
As Kevin Streelman told reporters, “It’s going to be a bloodbath out here.”
