AKRON, Ohio – Keegan Bradley will head to Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course looking to follow up Sunday’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational victory with a successful defense of his PGA Championship title.
Tiger Woods is the last player to win the week before the PGA Championship and follow up with a victory in the year’s last major, in 2007.
Bradley was asked if winning makes next week more difficult.
“I think it does a little, in terms of my record after I've won a tournament,” Bradley said. “It isn't that great, but, again, I've learned how to handle it. I've learned what to do after you win a tournament.”
Bradley said he will seek out some advice from his Hall of Fame aunt, Pat Bradley, and from his friend, Phil Mickelson.
“I remember after I won the Byron Nelson, and I missed the cut terribly at Memorial, and I asked [Pat] if she had ever won back‑to‑back tournaments. She said, `One time.’ She said it's one of the hardest things to do.
“I look forward to the challenge. This is going to be my third time doing it. I'm going to be better equipped for it.”
