DORAL, Fla. – Spotted Chris Noss – Tour trainer for the likes of Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink and Camilo Villegas – between workouts at Doral. Among a litany of topics he said he wasn’t surprised by Villegas’ hot start to the season (third at WGC-Match Play, T-8 Phoenix Open and first at Honda Classic).
Noss said Villegas dialed back his off-course training this year, cutting down on the amount of time he spends cycling which had become a passion for the Colombian. Noss also said he’s reduced the amount of time Villegas spends in the gym.
“He’s an athlete and you have to have time between workouts for each muscle group to recover,” Noss said. “At least seven days.”
If only “Shag Bag” had that same problem.
