The Champions Tour on Monday announced the creation of a new event, the Encompass Championship, which will be held June 21-23, 2013, at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill.
The event will feature a pro-am format on Friday and Saturday, while the 81 Champions Tour players also compete in a traditional, stroke-play tournament through Sunday.
North Shore opened in 1924, and it also hosted the 1933 U.S. Open.
“I’m really juiced about it; we can’t wait to get back here,” Sluman, a native Chicagoan, said Monday on “Morning Drive.” “With the BMW (Championship, on the PGA Tour) moving around so much, there’s not a lot of golf around here. We’re filling a little bit of a void, and we look forward to having a great event.”
