Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo., will be home to the 2013 Solheim Cup, the LPGA announced on Saturday. It’s a Bill Coore/Ben Crenshaw design near Pikes Peak just outside Denver. The biennial event will be played this year at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., on Aug. 21-23. The 2011 event will be played at Killeen Castle in County Meath, Ireland.
Meg Mallon, an 18-time LPGA winner who takes pride in her Irish heritage, is believed to be the favorite to captain the American team at Killeen Castle . She’s an assistant captain to Beth Daniel this year. Hall of Famer Juli Inkster has to be considered the frontrunner to captain at Colorado Golf Club, which was founded by Mike McGetrick, Inkster ’s long-time teacher.
