SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – After receiving an exemption into this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, Fred Couples has withdrawn one day before the opening round.
The official reason given was an “illness.”
Couples will be replaced in the field by Ken Duke.
He is the second big-name player to withdraw in as many days. On Tuesday, Nick Watney pulled out of the field due to illness.
