Luke Donald’s father, Colin, passed away Monday according to a tweet sent Tuesday by IMG, Donald’s management company.
“Our deepest sympathies to @LukeDonald and the Donald family on the passing of his father last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,” said the tweet from @IMGgolf.
No more information was immediately available.
Donald’s brother, Christian, is the caddie for Martin Kaymer, who shot a final-round 63 Sunday to win the HSBC Champions in Shanghai. Luke Donald won the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic last month to capture the PGA Tour money title and is the favorite to win the Tour’s Player of the Year award. His wife, Diane, is expecting the couples’ second child at any moment.
“Our deepest condolences are with Luke and Diane Donald and their family, after the passing of Luke's father. They are in the thoughts and prayers of the PGA Tour family,” the PGA Tour said in a statement.
